It makes me sad that dimply, five-year-old looking Rainbow Brite has been made over into this. Why do all representation of girls have to be sexualized? Where oh where has our innocence gone?
Please, she is adorable in this picture, just older. Updating her into a teenager doesn't make her into a sex object, nor does putting her into a short skirt. A woman of any age should be allowed to wear whatever she wants without being objectified for it. It's on your end to perceive her with respect. I think she looks sweet.
omg i wanna cry ... she looks so horrabel an yet all you people have become so desensatised that you find it just fine to take a childhood icon and turn her into a over sexualized mess in a tight dress and heeled boots... whats happend to the world its just so sad ............ i agree compleatly with whoever put this up
So a five year old plays with this RB toy, (because they're not meant for teens to play with,) and very early on the seed is planted that being a teenager means wearing a gold choker, big Pam Anderson hair and really short skirt to show off skinny white legs. You can't look at this and tell me it's not sexualized. She looks like she's on her way to a sexy Haloween party. Or maybe it's all me. I have a Rainbow Bright fetish I had no idea about.I just think there should be some space reserved where images of women and girls aren't completely sexualized, and that space should be childhood.
I completely agree with your post. The idea of taking an innocent little girl, then turning her into some teenage bombshell is disgusting. Girls will have yet another warped image of their teens coming back to haunt them as they grow up. Not only that, but how is she supposed to activate her colour belt? By groping her boobs? Please. Kids these days still enjoy the original Rainbow Brite, there is no need to warp it into yet another male fantasy.
I think you're missing the point that this is an artist's rendition, a spin on a classic. looks to me like a more grown up version of Rainbow Brite. Whatever.
That would make a great sexy halloween costume!
ReplyDeleteher skirt has always been pretty short.
